BIO:     KATY L. KANE

 

I am Katy the Artist. I take joy in creating the colorful and imaginative works of art you see before you and it is my passion to spread the joy of creating and enjoying art to all!

I was born and raised in a rural area of Northwest Arkansas called Gravette. I grew up surrounded by animals and nature, I would walk freely through acres of deciduous forest letting my imagination run wild. I would say that is some of the greatest inspiration for  my artwork. My parents always inspired and encouraged me to follow my dreams and use my God-given talents to help others.

In 2009 I received my BA in Anthropology from the University of Arkansas, which is also the year I met my amazing muse and now husband JC. He encouraged me to take my painting to a new level.

Since 2009 I have had several shows including some in Colorado, Lebanon, and Arkansas. I have painted storm drain murals in Bentonville, Bella Vista and Little Rock, AR as part of an awareness campaign to reduce litter in our local streams. I worked as an art instructor at a nonprofit for adults with disabilities called LifeStyles and as a painting instructor at Painting With A Twist in Bentonville and Fayetteville, AR. I most recently worked with seniors at a retirement community and found their wisdom to be an inspiration to follow my passions. My former students continue to be a great motivation to keep learning new things and to continue to work to spread the joy of art.
